Buffalo Trace Straight Bourbon
Information regarding Buffalo Trace Straight Bourbon
Buffalo Trace Bourbon is a great whisky to have in the house and I would say it's a remarkable whisky for the price of just over £20.This American Bourbon is light bronze in colour and has a taste which is sweet, but does have the sense of gold within it. The taste is sweet with spices throughout and is a very enjoyable whisky to drink. If you don't want to drink this bourbon straight then add a little water and as more flavours are exposed, you will taste toffee and dark fruits as you consume this wonderful. As I stated before a great whisky to have in your cabinet and one that will always be ideal to drink on any occasion.
The bourbon itself is made with Kentucky and Indiana corn, rye, and malted barley. All the grain is tested before heading to the mill to make sure the standards are kept and the right chemical balance is there to produce this fine whisky. Then the grain heads to the mill where a hammer mill is used to make sure only the right size of grain is used in the future processes.
The mash process happens after this where fresh water which has been naturally filtered through the Kentucky limestone is heated to the correct heat then the corn is added and final the rye and malted barley slurry. This finally turns the starch from the cooked grains into a soluble sugar which is a sweet mash ready for the fermentation process to begin. Once the sweet mash has cooled yeast is added to start the fermentation process which can last up to 5 days. After this the distillation process begins where steam is pumped into beer stills to create an alcohol rich vapour which is then recondensed to create a crystal clear liquid. This is then stored in barrels which can be as high as 125 proof and the ageing process begins in earnests before the Bourbon is finally ready.
